INVITATION
For the 150th Anniversary of the ‘Trafila’ of Garibaldi and the Roman Republic

The various initiatives organised for the celebration of the 150^th anniversary of the ‘trafila’ of Garibaldi and the Roman Republic by the Committee and the Garibaldi’s Hut Conservation Society required the production of numerous invitations.

These have been gathered, organised and in some cases postmarked with the cancellations issued during the various celebrations of the 150^th anniversary.

The invitations are shown in the book “Memoria e attualità dell’epopea garibaldina – atti e documenti del 150° anniversario della Trafila garibaldina e la Repubblica Romana” – Longo publishers of Ravenna.

The personal invitations will come with the distribution of posters published to give information on the various initiatives of the Committee for the celebrations and the various public bodies: Regional Government of Emilia Romagna, Municipality and Province of Ravenna, the municipalities of Cesenatico, Porto Tolle, Porto Garibaldi and Modigliana, the A.M.I. (Associazione Mazziniana Italiana) and the Lions Club of Ravenna and Russi.

Official speakers included: Francesco Loperfido, president of the Institute of contemporary history of Ferrara, Roberto Balzani, professor of history at Bologna University, Maurizio Viroli, professor of political doctrine at Princeton USA, Luigi Lotti, director of the Italian Historical Institute, Domenico Berardi and Sauro Mattarelli, local historians, the Hon. Luciana Sbarbati, Tino Dalla Valle, journalist and writer, Giulio Cavazza, president of the A.M.I., Beppe Rossi, area delegate of the Lions Club, Gustavo Raffi, Grand Master of the Grande Oriente d’Italia.

This material is the object of collectors and is sought after by enthusiasts of Risorgimento history and philately and indicates the care with which the organisers have managed the events of 1999.
