| Thursday 9 August |
| At 1 o'clock Garibaldi and
Leggero accompanied by Dragoni and Abbondanzi left
the farm on foot and set off
across the farmland, the Classe pinewood along the Ghiaia canal and the
new Romea road. After travelling about 12 kilometres they arrived in the
vicinity of Ponte Nuovo at around 3 o'clock.
In an audacious move, Garibaldi and Leggero left Ponte Nuovo with their company and moving upstream on the left bank of the Fiumi Uniti, then along the Vicolo Dismano Vecchio and the Strada Mangagnina across the fields of the Ruggini farm and after about 3 kilometres the entered Ravenna at 4 o'clock in the "Casa del Sobborgo Sisi" in Via Ravegnana belonging to Geltrude Goggi, the mother of Gregorio Zabberoni. | The entire day was spent in this

in the evening towards 9 p.m. the two fugitives, accompanied by Zabberoni
and Antonio Plazzi were taken to the house opposite, belonging to Federico
and Achille Plazzi, brothers of Antonio. (24)

| The entire day was spent in the house of the Plazzi brothers. Garibaldi changed into another set of beige clothes brought to him by Luigi Gabici. |
