For the 150th Anniversary of the ‘Trafila’ of Garibaldi and the Roman Republic

The Garibaldi’s Hut Conservation Society and the Committee for the celebrations of the 150^th anniversary of the “Trafila garibaldina” and the Roman Republic, have produced a series of informative regarding initiatives and events organised in 1999 in various places that were the theatre of events of the ‘trafila’.

These were collected organised and postmarked with the postal cancellations issued during the 150^th anniversary celebrations.

The leaflets are shown in the book “Memoria e attualità dell’epopea garibaldina – atti e documenti del 150° anniversario della Trafila Garibaldina e della Repubblica Romana” – Longo publishers of Ravenna.

Some initiatives organised by the committee in the ambit of the 150^th anniversary were published with the distribution of first day covers prepared with the collaboration local bodies such as the Local Tourist Office of Porto Corsini, the Philatelic and Numismatic Cultural Club of Cesena, Bagno Milano di Lido di Savio, The Garibaldi Brotherhood Associations of Porto Tolle and Porto Garibaldi, the Municipality of Porto Tolle, ENDAS of Ravenna, Atletica Gairsa Ravenna, The Italian Postal Service, The Po Delta National Park Consortium.

The initiatives promoted with first day covers regard exhibitions, philatelic shows, historical comments, bicycle tours, foot races, special post marks, cycle tourism meetings.

This material too is the object of collectors and is sought after by Risorgimento history enthusiasts and philately of the Conservation Society and circuits known to enthusiasts.
